Inviting God into Your Wounded Places

We're going to explore inner healing prayer. This might not be for everyone, especially if your struggle with pornography is rooted in sexual abuse or trauma. In those cases, I strongly recommend seeking guidance from a trusted pastor or therapist. However, I believe it's crucial to invite the Lord back into the places where we were first wounded, where we were first exposed.

Understanding the Root

How did this become a part of your life? There was a moment, a narrative, when this began. We need to revisit that moment, but first, let's understand how God sees you.

A Reflection of Love and Kindness

Psalm 67 speaks of God making his face shine upon us, an ancient Hebrew phrase depicting the joy a parent seeks to bring to their child. This is how God looks at you. You are a beloved son or daughter.

A Journey of Revelation

Let's begin with prayer. Place your hands on your lap, a posture of surrender, and close your eyes. As I ask these questions, ask them to the Lord. Believe that He can go back to those difficult moments and bring healing, revealing His presence. Ask the Lord to reveal His heart for you. Allow yourself to sit in that revelation. Ask the Lord to show you where the wound is. Let Him take you back to the moment of first exposure. (If this is too painful, please stop and focus on God's kindness.) Ask the Lord what lie you believed about yourself because of that wounding moment. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal the truth of who you are in God. Ask the Lord what lies you believed about sex because of your struggle with pornography.

Freedom and Healthy Intimacy

As we close, I want to bless you. I prophesy a thriving sex life, free from the distortions of pornography. I pray that the Lord unwinds the patterns and expectations that have hindered you, as He has for me. I bless you with the revelation of God's kindness, that you would see His face shining upon you, even in your moments of stumbling. I bless you with freedom, that the allure of pornography would fade, replaced by a desire for true intimacy. I bless you with a flourishing sex life, an understanding of intimacy that is healthy, good, and biblical, in Jesus's name.

Amen.
